Sneaky steekjes :)

I enjoyed the enthusiasm of my teacher and her stunning sense of humor. I have to admit it took me a while to get used to it since it is quite dry at times but she is refreshing and heart warming and a real Human Being. Even though I can't really afford the second course I am going to attend it simply because I feel I am becoming a better and more creative person because of this fantastic training.
After a few lessons I noticed there was always an answer to the questions. I tried to stump her but could not do it. Gave up! Had fun!
Bedankt jongens!
I went to other schools for Photoshop and CAD but boy I am running back to this school to learn Dreamweaver and Flash. I have never seen better quality training.
Hoe alles kan lopen he.
The test lesson
The final lesson of your course is the test lesson. This test lesson is on a personal basis on one of the fixed test Fridays. This makes your test personal and allows us to take your background and the way you work into account. During this lesson you will perform one or more exercises or a final project that will require all of your newly aquired skills.
Your work will be evaluated by a professional teacher immediately after the test. If you sent in your homework assignments and your final test is up to par you will receive the certificate.
When is the test?
The test lesson should fall within two months after your final course or education lesson. It will usually fall on a Friday. You can decide on the time of your test provided it starts and ends between 10:00 and 17:00 hours.
Read more on the exam days and enroll for your test.
Combine Photoshop with other programs and professions. Illustrator for instance is great to create vector illustrations you can use in Photoshop, inDesign creates brochures with your images in it. read more below.
You will most often combine Photoshop with Illustrator. Creating sharp vector illustrations can not really be done in Photoshop since it is too time consuming and limited.
In Illustrator, you can quickly create ayouts for flyers, posters and other designs. What's more: in Illustrator your designs are perfectly scalable without quality loss.
The combination of Illustrator and Photoshop is fantastic: Photoshop allows you to make your designs softer, Illustrator allows you to create stunning mood boards with special elements in them. Combine these two for the most fantastic results.
TIPIt is usually a clever move to know both Illustrator and Photoshop. Once you know both, you won't want to go back.
You place images in InDesign: photographic material. These images can not be edited in InDesign though, so Photoshop and InDesign are almost always combined.
In InDesign, you create the perfect layouts for magazines, brochures and books. The images you use can be edited and prepared in Photoshop to have all the control you need.
As a graphic designer with only InDesign skills you will soon find yourself wanting some Photoshop knowledge, if only to scale images properly and create good cut-outs. Or even to isolate elements. Combine Photoshop with InDesign for the best results.
TIPDo you want to collect your images into a fabulous presentation?

Websites, icons and buttons are very often created in Illustrator, see the buttons above.
But still: without Photoshop webdesign will become a bit more tricky. You will need Photoshop to crop images, to create collages or even to retouch images from your clients. Most webdesigners can't perform properly without Photoshop.
You will most definitely need Photoshop during your Flash course. You can use Photoshop to create backgrounds and even images that you can animate in Flash.
You can use Photoshop to save them in the best possible format, too. This will make the animations easier to load, even though of course Flash also has features to keep the size down, doing the necessary pre work in Photoshop will save you time and will make your graphics easier to implement.
Even if you find yourself only using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and of course Outlook, you will need the perfect graphics for presentations, news letters and all other documents you prepare for sharing and publishing. Photoshop is extremely useful for this since it helps you save images in the best possible format for Office applications.
Photoshop course questions
What is Adobe Photoshop?
Is Photoshop difficult?
hotoshop is not difficult although this is different for each student. If you don't have any experience with any of the Adobe applications you may need a bit more time getting the hang of it.
But on the whole, it is not difficult if you properly start from scratch. Usually, things get easier after the third lesson. Your teacher is right there for you though, every step of the way. Your course will be a success!
Must I be a photographer?
Many LearningTrain students are photographers, yes. But you don't have to be a photographer to attend Photoshop or to use Photoshop.
During the courses you can use your own photographs but you can use images from stock sites just as well. Your courses include images to work with to do the exercises and to create free artwork.
What can I do with Photoshop?
One of the most known applications is of course editing photos. Whether they come out of your digital camera, a scan or a smart phone: Photoshop can be used for all of them. You can perform the most simple tasks such as cropping, resizing and rotating but more advanced taks such as photo corrections and restorations and using channels, paths and historgrams are possible too.
You can restore images in Photoshop and do this perfectly. Old, damaged photos can be scanned and restored, even photos that were taken under poor conditions or that contain unwanted elements can be fully restored.
Making portraits stand out
Your precious model, professional or simply a loved one, may have a spot or blemish, or may suffer from bad lighting for instance. You can use Photoshop to make any portrait stand out and turn your models into perfect ones.
Magazines use Photoshop to add a little (or big) extra to any portrait.
Edit holiday pictures
You may come home finding some or your precious photos are not as good as you thought they would look. Lighting can be off, colours can be wrong. You can edit all images taken with your digital camera in Photoshop. But you can even scan your classic photos, or their negatives, and edit them in Photoshop.
Creating photo collages
A popular thing to do is creating photo collages. You use layers, like sheets of paper, and stack them to create a collage. Learn all about it, you already learn that during the first lesson of the first Photoshop course.
Photoshop can be used to design websites. Fair is fair: things are much easier in Illustrator. But the images you use on those websites are edited in Photoshop. You will need Photoshop. Photoshop can't be beaten to create images for all possible on-screen media either.
Creating images for InDesign
InDesign is used to combine photos, illustrations from Illustrator and text into stunning layouts for books, magazines and more. But what if that photo is not right, if teh colours are wrong or if something has to be removed? You will need Photoshop for that, you can't do it in InDesign.
Creating images for Illustrator
In Illustrator you can combine your fabulous graphics with text and images. But you can't edit those images: that has to be done in Photoshop. If you know Photoshop as well as Illustrator you have all control over what you create.
Isolating image elements
If you want to use elements in photos without their backgrounds you will have to isolate those elements. You will need Photoshop to do that.
Photoshop for image editing
You will need Photoshop if you want to edit digital images. You can use it for simple image editing such as resizing and cropping and for photo collages. But you can also use it to isolate elements so they can be used in other images. You can make portraits look better and use special effects. Photoshop will keep surprising you, year after year.
For graphic designers
As a graphic designer you will need to add images to your designs for books and magazines. If you only have to work with ready to use images, you don't need Photoshop. But if you want to edit images yourself, scale them, remove blemishes or even adjust colours and isolate elements you will need Photoshop.
For news letter editors
If you are responsible for creating news letters you probably will receive images from bureaus, your boss or colleagues to work with. To use them you will often have to edit them. Learn Photoshop to do this quickly and professionally and save your company a lot of time.
Which course should I choose?
Starting from scratch
Almost every student starts from scratch. This way, they learn it all properly without missing any basic skills they will need every time they use Photoshop. Some students start with the Advanced course because they already know some Photoshop. Almost all of them end up attending the first Photoshop course afterwards, or book a few extra lessons. Because that base is what you will need every day, after all.
During the Photoshop course you use the most common tools, these are the tools you will end up using as a Photoshop expert too. So you will get to know all the brushes, the selections and even use layers and special settings. You will create photo collages with text and apply special effects to every element you use. You learn how to isolate elements so they can be used in any other document.
The emphasis of the Photoshop Course lies on getting to know the most important tools and functions. Photoshop is very expanded and most students really want to move on and get things done in Photoshop. And this is indeed what you will do. After this first Photoshop course you will know how to cut out elements and create perfect photo collages. You will use filters and text and even apply photo corrections. This will all prepare you for a lot of work in Photoshop.
Photoshop courses that start from scratch:
Photoshop course, advanced
During the advanced Photoshop course you learn how to prepare images for both print and digital media. You learn all about resolutions and use contrast, colour corrections and more to create perfect images for InDesign and other applications. Your images are ready for print.
Photoshop Course, professional
During the Photoshop professional course you learn how to use the history functions, all sorts of document modes and blend modes and much more. You use more complex settings and combinations to create the result you are after.
Photoshop course, expert
During the Photoshop Expert course you learn how to use special corrections layers and how to apply specialistic photo enhancements.
The Photoshop Education combines all you need to know about digital image editing. You start from scratch and learn how to create photo collages, how to restore images, correct them and even how to prepare images for print and digital media. At the end of this eduction Photoshop will not have many secrets left.
Attend a special course to learn things needed for your profession.
Photoshop pattern design
This course is for you if you want to learn how to create patterns in Photoshop. You start from scratch, the course focuses on creating patterns.
Photoshop Pen & work path
Learn all there is to know about creating paths with the 'Pen' tool in Photoshop.
Photoshop Masks course
Masks are tremendously important in Photoshop. They are at the heart of many a selection. And selections are something you can't live without in Photoshop. Learn how to use those masks.
What is the difference with Illustrator?
The biggest difference is that in Photoshop, you mostly use pixels and in Illustrator, most elements are created with vectors. Another big difference: in Photoshop, you mostly use existing material and in Illustrator, you create everything from scratch.
The vectors are extremely useful since they create resolution independent artwork. This means that your Illustrator designs can be scaled without making them blurry. You can design a tiny little thing and use it in a poster, for instance.
In Photoshop though, you use pixels. And you can not make pixel elements bigger without affecting their quality. You will learn the do's and don'ts during your Photoshop course.
Image problems in Illustrator
If you know Illustrator, you must have run into a few problems quite often: you insert an image and notice something is not right. You need to adjust it and you can not. One of the following problems might have occured, for example:
- An image is damaged and you can not restore it so you can't use it
- You scale a JPG and the result is terrible
- You can't combine images or image elements, the images overlap one another
- You want text to flow around an image but the text flows around it straight, you want it to follow the contours of the image
- An image has noise
- The image is damaged
- The image is too big
- The image is not straight
If you are responsible for designs that include photographic material (images) you will usually benefit from attending a Photoshop course. Not only to save money but also to save you lots of time while having more control over the results.
The founder of Photoshop
Thomas Knoll, Photosho 'inventor'
Photoshop has been around for a very long time. It was created in 1988 by the Knoll brothers.
And it keeps getting better and better. You will have lots of fun during your Photoshop courses and learn so much that will allow you to use Photoshop professionally, even if it is just for fun. Enjoy!
